Planetary Equilibrium

Planetary Equilibrium Dan Ditzler

As we continue to farm, more things unfold for us. When we talk about Moon and Saturn, we aren’t only talking about these physical planets; their exoteric representations become known to us on our farm as water/earth and heat/air, respectively. Understanding the balance and interchange of these polarities is critical to successful farming, but being able to connect these states of existence to planetary influences is something that intrigues me.

The use of the biodynamic preparations and field sprays heightens these planetary forces that are already always there, but have become less able to influence the earth because of satellites, Wi-Fi, EMFs and materialistic thinking. The Earth would make the preparations if it could; instead, our active participation in bringing together the kingdoms of nature each year is required to strengthen the planetary forces and help us get the nutrition we need.

How can we imagine the influence of the planets unfolding in our farms and gardens? The upward rising stem of the plant is a response to the Sun, while the downward root reflects the Moon. The patterns the leaves make as they wind their way up the stalk is created by the looped orbits of Venus and Mercury. Anther and pollen formation are under the guise of Mars, while fruit formation is controlled by Jupiter; seed formation by Saturn.

All the planets are related to life processes, Saturn to breathing, warming is related to Jupiter, nutrition is connected to Mars, circulation is under the guise of the Sun and the Ego, maintenance belongs to Mercury, the growth and maturation impulse comes from Venus, and reproduction is governed by the Moon. The planets support the Sun in its role of photosynthesis: the accumulation of physical substance in the world. We find a strong earth/water vibe in the inner planets to the air/heat vibe of the outer planets.

Humans on Earth are also influenced by the planets and the stars and the light they reflect and transmit! What the Moon is able to reflect from the whole universe forms forces which sustain the animal world of the Earth.  Water brings about the distribution of lunar forces in our farms and gardens. When there is a rain followed by a full moon there are powerful forces at play in nature.

Venus wards off the universe, but is highly responsive to everything that comes from the Earth. The Earth is, so to speak, her lover. Venus gazes deeply into the hearts of human beings, for that is what interests her.

Mercury is interested in whatever is capable of co-ordination. Mercury provides the forces for capacities of intellect and reason, especially of intellect. It is the intercellular messenger.

Saturn is a living historian, a kaleidoscopic memory of the planetary system.  Saturn wants us to give little heed to Earthly affairs of the present, and to immerse ourselves in what the Earth once was.

Jupiter is the “Thinker” in our planetary system, connected to the cosmic present.  Many people have found a solution for some problem during the night, as though out of a dream; these are the Jupiter forces, who imbue human thinking with mobility and vigor.

Mars may be called the great “Talker” in the planetary system. Mars does little thinking.

So we see the need to be aware of these forces: working in us, on our farm, and the need for their equilibrium.
